Why show pixels as well as characters?

Letters have different widths (WWW is wider than iii), so the same character count can take up different space. Google truncates closer to display width than to a fixed character number. The pixel figure here is an approximation from canvas measurement and is labelled approximate.

What length is good, and does it help ranking?

Only display guidance can be given: about 30–60 characters for a title and 120–160 for a description on desktop, less on mobile. Fitting a band makes truncation less likely; it does not improve ranking, and Google sets no fixed limit.

Will Google show exactly what I typed?

Often not. Google frequently rewrites titles and replaces descriptions with a snippet from page content, varying by query and device. No checker can guarantee display or ranking. Put important words first and treat any preview as a writing aid.

Should I add meta keywords?

No. Google does not use the meta keywords tag for ranking. This checker deliberately ignores it.

Is anything uploaded?

No. Counting and pixel measurement run in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored or shared.
