Is this password generator free?

Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no account. Everything runs in your browser.

Are my passwords uploaded, stored or logged?

No. Passwords are generated locally in your browser tab with the Web Crypto API and never leave your device. There is no history: closing the tab forgets everything.

How does the strength estimate work?

It estimates entropy as password length times log2 of the character pool size. It is a rough estimate of guessing difficulty, not a promise — no password is unhackable, and a unique password plus two-factor authentication matters more than any label.

Why exclude look-alike characters?

Characters like I, l, 1, O and 0 are easy to confuse when reading or retyping a password. Excluding them trades a little pool size for far fewer typing mistakes.

Where should I keep the password I generate?

In a reputable password manager, protected by a strong master password you can remember — a long passphrase works well for that. Do not keep passwords in notes apps, chats or email, and use a different password for every account.
