Online Teleprompter Guide: Reading on Camera Without Memorizing a Word – AI Humanizer

1. What a teleprompter actually solves The problem is not forgetting words. It is the glance downward. Every time your eyes drop to notes, the viewer feels the connection break, and on video that small dip reads as doubt. A teleprompter keeps the words travelling toward you at reading height, close to the lens, so your face stays up and your audience stays with you. This page does the simplest, oldest version of that job and does it completely: paste a script, make the letters big, let the text scroll at your pace, pause with the spacebar, and read. There is no camera inside it and no recording button, and that is deliberate. Recording belongs to the camera app you already trust; this tool earns its place by doing one thing — moving text — calmly and well. Teachers recording lessons, students presenting projects, small business owners filming a product update, a best man rehearsing a speech in his kitchen: the need is the same. You know what you want to say, you wrote it down, and now you need your eyes free. That is the whole promise, stated without decoration. 2. The controls, one by one Start with the script box. Type or paste anything — a thirty-second introduction or a full lecture. Under it, the tool counts your words and characters live and shows an estimated speaking time, worked out at a calm 150 words per minute, the same convention this site's reading-time tools use. Treat that number as a rehearsal aid, not a promise: nervous speakers speed up, careful speakers slow down, and the estimate cannot hear you. Scroll speed is the heart of the tool. Set it a little slower than feels right; almost everyone reads a touch slower out loud than in their head, and a prompter that runs away from you forces the rushed, flat delivery people call robotic. While reading, the up and down arrow keys nudge the speed without touching the mouse, and the spacebar pauses and resumes — but only when you are not typing in the script box, so your editing keystrokes are never hijacked. Font size goes from comfortable desk reading to letters you can read across a room. The optional countdown puts 3, 2, 1 on screen so your first word lands after a breath instead of in a scramble. Fullscreen hands the whole display to the script, and the Back to top button resets the scroll for the next take. A thin progress line at the top quietly shows how far through the script you are, which matters more than you expect in a ten-minute talk. 3. Mirror mode, explained honestly Mirror mode flips the text left-to-right. On a normal screen that looks wrong — reversed, unreadable — and the tool says so the moment you switch it on. The flip exists for a physical setup: in a real teleprompter rig, your screen lies flat and a pane of beam-splitter glass at forty-five degrees reflects the text up toward your eyes while the camera shoots through the glass. A reflection reverses an image once, so the text is flipped in advance to cancel that out and read correctly in the glass. If you do not own such a rig, leave mirror mode off; there is no benefit to reading reversed text directly, and practising that way can make ordinary reading feel strange. If you are building a DIY rig from a tablet and picture-frame glass — a popular weekend project — mirror mode is the switch that makes it work, and the correct test is simple: read what the glass shows you, not what the screen shows you. 4. Setting up your space like a small studio Distance and position beat every setting. Put the scrolling screen as close to the camera lens as your setup allows: a laptop under the camera, a tablet on a stand just below it, a phone taped (carefully) near the webcam. The closer the text sits to the lens, the less your eyes travel, and small eye travel is what separates natural delivery from visible reading. Raise the font until you can read at arm's length without leaning in; leaning is visible even when eye movement is not. Break the script the way you speak. Short lines, one thought per line, and a blank line where you want a real pause. Write numbers as words if you stumble over digits, and spell a difficult name the way it sounds — the audience hears the word, not the spelling. Rehearse once at full length before recording anything. That single pass calibrates your speed setting, exposes the sentences that are too long for one breath, and turns the time estimate from a guess into your number. 5. Privacy: where your script actually goes Nowhere. The script is processed in this browser tab only — never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared. Close the tab and it is gone. That design is why the tool can honestly invite drafts you would never paste into a cloud service: the unannounced product launch, the wedding vows, the resignation speech, the exam you are helping your child rehearse. It is also why there is no script library here. Saved scripts would need storage, storage would need accounts, and accounts would end the privacy story. If you need a script next week, keep it in your own document and paste it back in; thirty seconds of pasting is the whole cost. This also means the tool works the same on a borrowed laptop in a school hall as on your own machine, and leaves nothing behind on either. For shared computers, that is not a small feature. 6. Honest limits: what this tool refuses to pretend It does not record. There is no camera view, no microphone, no video file at the end — by design, not by omission. Many teleprompter pages blur this, collecting sign-ups for recording suites when all you wanted was scrolling text. Here the division of labour is printed on the page: this tab scrolls, your camera app records, on the same device or a second one. It also does not follow your voice. Voice-activated scrolling exists elsewhere, usually behind accounts and credits; a steady, well-chosen speed plus a spacebar turns out to cover most real talks, and it never mishears you in a noisy room. The time estimate is arithmetic, not listening: words divided by a pace. And mirror mode, repeated because it surprises people, makes text unreadable on a plain screen on purpose — it is glassware, not a display preference. Finally, no teleprompter fixes a script that was written for the eye. If a sentence needs three breaths, the tool will faithfully scroll it while you drown. Shorten the sentence. 7. Quick answers and a closing habit Is it free, and do I need an account? Free, no account, nothing to install. Can I use it on my phone? Yes — the same page works in a mobile browser, and fullscreen on a small screen beside a second recording phone is a perfectly good beginner rig. What speed should I start with? Begin slow, read a paragraph aloud, and raise the speed only when you are waiting for the text. How long is my talk? The estimate under the script box tells you at 150 words a minute; read once with a timer and write your real pace on the script. Will it work with my glass rig? Yes — switch on mirror mode and read the reflection, not the screen. Close with the habit that makes prompters invisible: rehearse once, set the speed a notch under comfortable, and put the text so close to the lens that your eyes barely move. The audience should remember your words, never wonder how you remembered them.
