Is this typing speed test free?

Yes. All modes, passages and languages are free with no sign-up and no usage limit from us. Everything runs in your browser.

How is WPM calculated?

WPM = correct characters ÷ 5 ÷ minutes. One word counts as 5 characters including spaces, the standard convention. Gross WPM counts every character typed; net WPM counts only the correct ones, which is the honest figure.

Is anything I type uploaded or stored?

No. The passage, your typing and the scoring all happen in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server, and your best score is kept only in this browser on this device.

Can I compare my phone score with my computer score?

Not fairly. Phone keyboards usually score far lower than physical keyboards, and different layouts and passages change results. Compare your own repeated scores on the same device and keyboard instead.

Does this test give me a certificate for jobs?

No. This is a practice score, not an official certificate, and no employer body recognizes it. Employers test typing with their own tools; this page helps you prepare honestly.

How is Japanese typing scored?

Japanese is not space-separated, so the test counts characters. Word modes use a fixed character count, and WPM applies the standard 5 characters = 1 word convention, with the character count shown as the main number.
